Scams And Bribery Are Becoming the Foundation of Our Economy It's bad and you should be alarmed.

The extent to which the American economy is being transformed into a machine for scams and outright bribery should be spoken about more directly.

AI filmmaking and storytelling is punk rock. Itโ€™s hip hop. Itโ€™s counterculture. Itโ€™s a new type of creativity. Itโ€™s a new medium. Itโ€™s hated by the mainstream film and art establishment. It resists ideology. It ignores gate keeping. Itโ€™s uncomfortable. Itโ€™s scary. Itโ€™s viral. Itโ€™s accessible. Itโ€™s refreshing. Itโ€™s welcoming. Itโ€™s here.

Zero Tolerance Five years after the George Floyd protests, many liberals blame โ€œwokenessโ€ for stifling open debate. So why canโ€™t they handle being disagreed with?

"Editorial indulgence has resulted in such a sludge of footnotes and block quotes that the eye must often dismount and continue on foot."

Yes. Both are about a professor whose life is turned upside down when they are no longer able to control everything, including their own body.

Democrats should probably start acting as if a fascist regime was sending agents of the state to arrest them without warrants for political crimesโ€”because thatโ€™s exactly what is happening.

The $150 billion to DHS, which includes over $71 billion for ICE, will transform the agency into something new in U.S. history; the tendrils of federal law enforcement extending into every community in the country on a daily basis, simultaneously more visible and less accountable than ever.

THREAD. A lot of attention is rightly going to Medicaid cuts and other very bad things in Trump's bill passed by the House, but there's something else that isn't getting enough attention, that is very difficult to find in any news coverage, but that will fundamentally alter life for all of us.

The patriotic response to todayโ€™s threat is to oppose Mr. Trump. But it is to do so soberly and strategically, not reflexively or performatively. It is to build a coalition of Americans who disagree about many other subjects โ€” who span conservative and progressive, internationalist and isolationist, religious and secular, business-friendly and labor-friendly, pro-immigration and restrictionist, laissez-faire and pro-government, pro-life and pro-choice โ€” yet who believe that these subjects must be decided through democratic debate and constitutional processes rather than the dictates of a single man.

The building of this coalition should start with an acknowledgment that Mr. Trump is the legitimate president and many of his actions are legal. Some may even prove effective. He won the presidency fairly last year, by a narrow margin in the popular vote and a comfortable margin in the Electoral College. On several key issues, his views were closer to public opinion than those of Democrats.

Why on earth would a protest movement against the worst president in US history begin by acknowledging that he's not so bad

Bari Weissโ€™ โ€œThe Free Pressโ€ is teaming up with Trumpโ€™s DC prosecutor to go after Wikipediaโ€™s nonprofit status to pressure it to be more pro-Israel.

Bari could not have chosen a more Orwellian term for her authoritarian news outlet taking a wrecking ball to Western institutions on behalf of Israel

You can judge him about, say, tweeting happily about people being sent to a horrific prison in El Salvador, right?

Look, thereโ€™s no reason . . . Look, when you take someone off the street whoโ€™s not supposed to be taken off the street, and you deport them, you make a mistake. I come from a tradition and a personal belief that when you make a mistake, you say, I made a mistake, and weโ€™re gonna fix it. And thatโ€™s disturbing.

They may not care that they made a mistake. Thatโ€™s the issue.

Off the record and not for quotation: [Goes off record.]

Is there a reason you donโ€™t want to say that on the record?

Yeah, I donโ€™t, because Iโ€™m still, you know . . . I donโ€™t want to give people the chance. You know, thereโ€™s some people I know, including good friends of mine, who suffer from what the Republicans would call, what is it, โ€œTrump Derangement Syndromeโ€? You know, anything he does is bad. Look, he moved the Embassy to Jerusalem. So I give him credit for that. I do give him credit for that. Iโ€™m not gonna say just because itโ€™s the Trump Administration itโ€™s bad.

I wasnโ€™t asking you to say just because it was the Trump Administration that it was bad. I was just pointing out that theyโ€™re sending people without any sort of due process to a horrible prison in El Salvador.

You know, that is something that I find disturbing and I would hope that, you know, that they would, they would recognize that, because thatโ€™s not what this country is all about.

Exploring the Westboro Baptist Church's Discography A theological thought exercise

I haven't been in the greatest place mentally lately, so I decided to be productive and make it everyone else's problem by going deep on a private obsession of mine: The wacky, absurd world of the Westboro Baptist Church's (rather extensive) discography johnpaulbrammer.substack.com/p/exploring-...
