Things should clear up for the morning commute once silicate weathering has been shut down for long enough that slowly accumulating volcanic CO2 catastrophically deglaciates the entire planet

I've seen several Big Climate Accountsβ„’ post about how the recent winter storm was made worse by climate change. It's a convenient narrative.

s
But what is "worse"? Colder temperatures? More snow? More freezing rain? Is there any primary literature supporting the idea of worse snowstorms?

The extreme cold across eastern N America is due to the Alaskan Ridge regime, which on average brings the coldest winter weather to this region.

Is this happening more often?

No. During the modern warming era, there has been no observed trend in the occurrence of this regime at this time of year.

On the balance of probabilities those warning of disaster look much more likely to be right than those complacently arguing there is nothing to worry about. Even the spooks are worried, and they are right to be.

Suppressed climate report warned of mass migration and nuclear war Unabridged document said disappearing forests and rivers drying up could drive people to Europe and lead to conflict in Asia

Back in the Autumn, No.10 blocked the publication of a report into the risks the UK could face if climate change causes ecosystems around the world to collapse. On Tuesday, after an FOI request, it published the report. But it turns out, that wasn't the full version. www.thetimes.com/uk/environme...

A pile of evidence suggests the Atlantic overturning #AMOC (and its surface branch North Atlantic Current) has slowed. But some colleagues were sceptical, arguing the Norwegian Current and its deep return flow haven't slowed. 1/6

China has now reacted to the news that the Trump White House wants to pull the US out of a range of UN orgs and entities, such as the UNFCCC and IPCC:

Stranger Things The 1980s Nostalgia of Trump's Foreign Policy is probably going to end up, like Stranger Things, as a horror show.

Trump is probably focused on the money he wrongly thinks he'll make from Venezuelan oil. But he's not a details guy and nobody has thought through the details. Essentially, the US has taken over Venezuela by mistake. Stranger things have happened, but not many.

A picture is worth 1000 words...

This appeared on the BBC News today, showing the increase in solar electric generation in the UK.

Not sure who produced it, but genuinely think this is a genius piece of scientific communication - the construct and choice of colour scale is near-perfect.

Chapeau!

I think it switches sides because it's showing a trend: the cooling from aerosols increases until ~2000 (negative warming trend) then the cooling from aerosols decreases because of clean air regulations (positive warming trend).

2025 has been a historic year for clean energy in UK, with renewable project approvals reaching a record-high 45 GW β€” nearly double of 2024.

This surge was driven by an exceptional rise in battery storage capacity, which almost doubled to 28.6 GW, alongside strong growth in offshore wind & solar.
