God I'm an idiot. He's in Jayce's Journal, but I just repeatedly missed the one page he's mentioned on. LMFAO.

I love Mel, and I think her relationship with Jayce is significant to who he became. I think he loved her at first, but she didn't feel the same. He eventually became disenfranchised, but then SHE started to actually love him. Loving each other doesn't mean they were good or right for each other.
