I just realised I'm now the same age as Nick Wilde...

@carrickoftheord.bsky.social : β€œThis sounds like someone having kinky sex with every member of the Velvet Underground”

Why use all 4 fingers to hold an A-shape barre chord when the pinky finger can hold all 3 notes on the other fret

Definitely not Yellow Submarine which is one of the best and most innovative songs on it and doesn’t deserve the resentment it gets from being a primary-school singalong staple

It’s hard to pick a weakest track on Revolver but I’d sooner cut Good Day Sunshine or I Want to Tell You before Dr. Robert if I was forced to

Had a walk re-listening to Sgt. Peps and remembered how hard the brass in that song go too, they roar like a low-tuned distorted guitar

GM,GM is one of my faves on Sgt. Pepper too, like an early example of math-rock, awesome guitar solo too

β€œShadow of a Doubt” is one of the most terrifying love songs ever recorded

Sonic Youth’s EVOL is a great album to play for both Valentine’s Day and Halloween

I couldn’t image OKC or Kid A w/o either of those cuts, they’re not even my least favourite track on either!

Some great album are meant to be songbooks that you can pick up and discover one at a time at your own pace and that can be just as valuable as an album designed to be listened to as a whole. Discovering runs of 2 or more tracks to enjoy together is always part of the listener’s fun

What I’ve gathered being a pretentious Albums Guy when I talk to music fans who aren’t is that the idea of listening to them start-to-finish seems like a chore to endure but as much as I love a good start-to-finish listen it’s hardly the most or only way to listen to a full-length Studio Album

Even a piece of genuine filler shouldn’t be able to subtract from the value of the album-defining high points if theyβ€˜re that good + there are ways you can deepen enjoyment and vary the experience of a good LP by choosing to hear and skip different tracks depending on circumstances

22.02.2026 07:18 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

The older I get the more β€œno skips” gets used as synonym for a perfect album bothers me. Not every track on an album has to work as a self-contained Great Song to be a worthy piece of a Classic Album

This goes for all the Michael Jackson stuff too like y'all come on now. Like, have skepticism of the accusations he received, sure, the legal system never made up its mind either. But you absolutely do not have evidence that he was saving kids from Epstein come the fuck on.

Epstein conspiracy posting is boiling people's brains I swear to god. No, Facebook feed, Princess Diana's death is not Epstein's fault. Extraordinary claims need evidence.

While I certainly support the spirit of the movement, maybe "No Kings" is no longer an appropriate slogan when we're in a moment when British monarchs are actually more likely to face punishment for their crimes than American presidents.

I still keep thinking about how a company with an infamously conservative image of family thatβ€˜s arguably de-eroticised mainstream film through its monopoly of the industry now has a massive animation franchise where the sex appeal of the characters is one of the main attractions

Now playing U2’s Boy, which makes me imagine an alternate reality where they pioneered the use of glockenspiel as a lead instrument
