My autobiography. May have just cracked it.
Looking forward to the scene in the upcoming F1 movie where Brad Pitt has to drive his Porsche 911 GT3 into Russia, inverted, to save the rookie.

14.06.2025 21:30 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0The time John let me revisit his DARK STAR universe came up in conversation a couple of times this week. I feel a rewatch coming on.
🎵Benson, Arizona, the same stars in the sky…
Brilliant. That’s the good stuff. I’m pretty sure I only ever saw a single episode back in the day. Had completely forgotten about it. I owe you one.
10.06.2025 19:28 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Interesting to see in the NYT that James Frey is back with a new novel! That whole scandal seems a million years ago. Here’s a snap from when @sizemore.bsky.social interviewed him back in 2009 at the ICA- the video is lost in internet time. And evidence we didn’t return the book for a refund
10.06.2025 17:53 — 👍 2 🔁 1 💬 0 📌 0There’s a couple on there I skipped and now I’ll swing back to. And I’d completely forgotten about The Game. Loved that but only saw it once. Thanks!
09.06.2025 21:38 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I watched the first couple of episodes as a friend of mine worked on it but it was close to something I was writing at the time so paused. Keep meaning to pick it up again.
09.06.2025 21:15 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I decided to watch The Bureau ahead of the US remake and ended up binging the entire run in a few weeks. Couldn’t take the American version seriously after that. Great show!
09.06.2025 21:03 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I watched it when it first aired and enjoyed it. I’ll add it to the rewatch list.
09.06.2025 20:45 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Good call. I think I’ve forgotten most of it. Did they ever get around to a second series?
09.06.2025 20:39 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0Need more classic brit spy tv to tide me over till Slow Horses is back. Burned through Sandbaggers, Harry’s Game, Tinker Tailor, and Smiley’s People.
What else should I be loading up?
Spending more time on Bluesky, but the video channel is running in conjunction with my newsletter. If weird and wonderful movies and tv is your thing I’d appreciate a subscribe over on YouTube.
It does make a difference knowing I’m not talking into the void. Cheers.

06.06.2025 14:03 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Glad it’s doing what it was built for. And that’s a good one. Gleaming the Cube is a highlight of Slater’s more oddball choices.
06.06.2025 13:54 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I love certain parts of it so hard but I really want it to be a more straightforward swashbuckler Ala The Crimson Pirate. I know that’s the whole point and that I’m missing it on purpose but the line ‘ I want my father back, you son of a bitch!’ is so perfect I just wish it was in a better movie.

06.06.2025 12:12 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0The little cinema in my town didn’t care if you stayed in your seat for the next screening so I saw BTiLC a lot on its release. The first week we went every night after school. Never got old.
06.06.2025 12:11 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I miss the days of scarcity. Spending months tracking down a particular cut of a hard to find movie. When I moved to London I’d spend the weekend in Chinatown rifling though boxes of VCDs looking for a decent subtitled version of God of Gamblers III or some such nonsense.
06.06.2025 11:47 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I love Assault on Precinct 13, but I’m a sucker for a small group of scientists investigating weird shit so Prince of Darkness is still my fave. Got to work with John on the pilot script for a tv series based on it. Didn’t get picked up, but boy it was a lot of fun.
06.06.2025 11:40 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Yeah horror can be a trap that’s pretty hard to climb out of. He’s the Master of Horror for a reason, but there’s a lot more going on in those movies. I dislike a lot of modern horror because it’s all surface stuff.
