For many of us, our faith was the reason we showed up in loveβ€”not the reason we turned away. We honor the sacred journey of parenting LGBTQ+ kids with both conviction and compassion. Faith should open hearts not close them #inclusive #LGBTQ+ #parenting #Momsky

but also: if the kid is still at an age where you would get CPS called on you for β€œnot feeding them” or β€œnot sheltering them” they’re dependents, that’s what that MEANS

Glad that Mothers Day is almost over. I’m ready for a regular day, even a Monday, where there are no unexpressed and unmet expectations. Thing is, tomorrow is my dead mom’s birthday. Maybe I can at least hide and cry somewhere?

I’m not buying it, but I’m afraid others will. It’s gross.

In the past several days, several posts have shown up in my Facebook page about how El*n is such a great family man, with accompanying AI family photos. After I stop gagging, I block the posts but the PR campaign to rehab his image keeps feeding them to me. 🀒

I am the mom of an AF officer and I called my senators today because I am livid. My kid has more OpSec awareness in his pinkie than our NSA, SoD, SoS, and their frat boy war game chat. There are risks associated w/ being in the military, but your leaders selling you out shouldn’t be one of them.

Gather 'round, my friends, and I will share a family legend, and with it, the single greatest insult I have heard in all 42 years of my life. (1/)

There are usually restrictions written into their plans on what time they can start but I n my experience, they could care less. My husband knows how to find such plans and who to complain to, and has, but they do it anyways. I hate it.

ID SB 1166 is an example of the horrible legislation coming out of our legislature. It hurts people, is specifically vindictive, and worsens an existing issue instead of offering a solution. I hate it here.

I do not know why would they reject Christ’s teachings in Matthew 25 and the laws of the United States at the behest of one Boise neighborhood association. Please contact your Idaho Legislators and let them know that you support shelter and you oppose the vilification of those in need.” /X

Why pursue already unconstitutional practices?

The sponsors of SB 1166 are from Meridian and Eagle. I know they both take their Christian faith seriously as well as being constitutional conservatives. /20

SCOTUS has expressly rejected requirements requiring the written consent of two-thirds of residential property owners living within 400 feet of β€œphilanthropic home for children or for old people” to authorize its construction as being β€œis arbitrary and repugnant to the due process clause”. /19

SB 1166 constitutes a neighbor veto by allowing shelters only with the written consent of neighbors. This has long been prohibited by the courts. /18

In fact, Idaho Code 67-6519 presumes that applicants, upon denial, will return with an improved application since the denying jurisdiction is required to inform them of what can be done to obtain approval. Why deny due process? /17

SB 1166 prohibits an applicant who has had an application for shelter rejected from even modifying and applying its application for 10 years. There is no other provision of the Local Land Use Planning Act with such a prohibition. /16

Interfaith Sanctuary was formed by Boise’s faith leaders to house those who were LGBTQ. Interfaith Sanctuary was formed by Boise’s faith leaders to minister to all. Why discriminate in violation of the law? /15

Interfaith Sanctuary was formed by Boise’s faith leaders who did not want those without housing to suffer just because they did not adhere to a specific, and limited form of Christianity. Interfaith Sanctuary was formed by Boise’s faith leaders to keep families together. /14

SB 1166 targets individuals and families who are homeless in violation of multiple state and federal laws, including the Federal Fair Housing Act, Religious Land Use and Institutional Persons Act, and Religious Freedom Restoration Act, as well as Idaho’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act. /13

Moreover, it is not applicable only to residential zones but also to β€œexclusive detached residential use” within other zones. If β€œprotection” is required, then why only protect detached single family residences, why not all residential uses including apartments, duplexes, attached ADUs, /11

Boise City rejected this requested setback for sound planning reasons. Why should the legislature overrule it?

SB 1166 lacks any rational basis for protecting people from homeless shelters as the 300 foot setback in SB 1166 is not established statewide. /10

β€œif you enact such a setback, there’ll be nowhere in the city where [shelter] can be built . . . we already have such a limited footprint where [shelters] are permitted . . . that we’d have no place in the city to – build such a thing.” /9

SB 1166, regulates the siting of homeless shelters and services only in cities with populations greater than 100,000 (only Boise, Meridian, and Nampa). It was introduced at the same hearing where SB 1141, which prohibits camping by homeless only in cities /5

SB 1166 circumvents the City of Boise’s support for shelter and transitional housing.

The sponsor of SB 1166 stated that it is a bill β€œrelated to commercial zoning requirements”, that it would β€œcreate uniformity”, that it will β€œensure that these areas are sited responsibly” /3
