Anyone know if the UCP's 2026 budget still has a line item for paying the municipal taxes for delinquent oil and gas companies because I know what I'd rather my tax money paid for than corporate dividends.

$40 billion in debt because our government refuses to touch royalties while oil & gas production (and profits) are at record highs. Austerity isn't a necessity, it's a choice based on who this government puts first - ordinary people or corporate interests. #ABLeg #ABPoli #CDNPoli

Who pays to clean up aging oil and gas infrastructure? Nothing in this world is certain but death, taxes, and the decommissioning of aging oil and gas infrastructure. An accelerated energy transition will accelerate asset retirements, but field decline is...

Alberta has roughly 240,000 unplugged wells and more than 80% of them are either β€œmarginal” wells or do not produce oil or gas at all. What’s needed is financial assurance–mechanisms that ensure decommissioning will be funded when the bill comes due. thepoint.com.au/opinions/260... #ABLeg #ABPoli

But think of the shareholders!!! But in all seriousness, I agree to an extent. I don't think higher taxes would "solve" the problems, but it would certainly alleviate some of the impacts/symptoms.

Reminder: The Alberta govt's "Mature Asset Strategy" proposes using AI data centres as a way to burn more natural gas, which would cause natural gas prices to rise, as a way to keep companies profitable (at our expense). The rest of us would be stuck paying higher natural gas prices. #ABLeg #ABPoli

🚨 Don't forget. Smith's proposed "Mature Asset Strategy" threatens to shift BILLIONS in unpaid oil & gas cleanup costs onto Alberta taxpayers. Rather than holding O&G companies accountable, this govt wants Albertans to pay their bills with money that should fund OUR public services. #ABLeg #ABPoli

"Study after study from very credible organizations say oil demand in #China is going to fall from roughly 17 million barrels a day to either between 5 or 7 million barrels by 2050, so Canada would be building a 1 million barrel a day pipeline to a market that is basically going to disappear."

Alberta to hold referendum on β€˜out-of-control’ immigration amid strain on social services, budget: Smith The Alberta government intends to hold a referendum on immigrants’ status, their access to social services and federal influence over provincial laws and services in October this year.

The only real "strain" on our social services is this govt's infinite handouts to oil & gas companies and it's refusal to touch royalties. Corporations profit off AB's workers & resources while the govt scapegoats immigrants for why we have "no money." πŸ–• www.ctvnews.ca/edmonton/art... #ABLeg #ABPoli

First Nations ask federal court to weigh in on MOU carbon capture project | CBC News Several First Nations are asking a federal court to weigh in on whether a deal struck on a carbon capture project was unconstitutional and violated Canada’s duty to consult.

A twitter post by Bruce McAllister, referencing a post about immigration statistics from David Coletto.

" @McAllisterBruce
The people orchestrating this reckless, unsustainable mass immigration into Canada fill me with profound disgust. To deliberately engineer and champion such explosive, unmanageable population growth in your own
nation? That's the height of civic irresponsibility. Was it fueled by greed?
Did they line their pockets while irrevocably straining our healthcare,
education, and social safety nets? Or does their contempt for Canada's core
values and traditions drive them to flood our borders with millions from
societies not built on the same foundations that have made us thrive? Why
import from nations with failed systems when our Judeo-Christian heritage
and principles have worked so well here? It almost feels like these elites are
ashamed of what built this great country.
This is a stark reminder of why Albertans, and indeed countless Canadians,
harbor deep mistrust toward the Laurentian elite in Ottawa. They seem all
too eager to prioritize their agendas over the well-being of the True North
strong and free."

Commenting on Canada's latest federal immigration numbers, executive director in the Premier's office Bruce McAllister gets real blood-and-soil with it.

Another Conservative crosses the floor. Here’s what that means Conservative MP Matt Jeneroux will join the Liberals, he says, giving the governing party more power in the House and representation in deep-blue Alberta.

This is what happens when all our political parties represent the same interests. We have two conservative parties and MPs can just cross the floor at will to ram through harmful legislation that puts corporate profits over the interests of ordinary Canadians. www.ctvnews.ca/politics/art... #CDNPoli

Same thing here in Canada as well. BUT, we live in a global economy that prioritizes profits above everything else (including social needs). If we want governments to stop doing this, we have to end capitalism plain and simple (not saying it's easy, but that's the ONLY solution). #CDNPoli #ABLeg

Alberta was a leader in renewable energy until the UCP banned it. They want Alberta to fail because that keeps people angry and they excel at farming anger.

"We inherited a situation where our budget is over reliant on resource revenues."

The UCP has been in power since 2019. At some point you're going to have to take responsibility for the decisions your party has made.
