White, 40s, lifelong Dem, lifelong Iowan, permanently single, no kids (except for my dad sometimes (I live with him)). Maintaining my last shreds of sanity going forward will hinge on my sports teams, cozy mysteries, and cats (dogs are cool, too).

The possible price of loving someone is having to grieve them eventually and AI cannot stop that. It cannot soften the blow or fill a void and it is quite frankly disrespectful and weird to try

Is there a Full Moon today? πŸ˜‚ (I mean today has definitely NOT been my best day. And it’s almost entirely on me. But at least I can blame it on that.)

So many here and on other SM platforms have absolutely no clue what a Senator's job entails and have never read the constitution, other than know about the 1st amendment.

I'm surprised I haven't seen the morons here jumping up and down screaming "why are they just sitting there, impeach them?"

It’s Primary Day in several places today. Get out and VOTE.

Because yes, β€œvoting harder” is one of the only things that gets us out of this.

This is still all just about Trumps seething hatred of Obama and a desperate, pathetic need to out do him, even nearly a decade after Obamas time in office ended

Also, just a side note, that insult "boomer." That's a super white millennial dude thing to say. I do not care abt age. Ageism is stupid. It's the tool of white populists. I do despair that my fellow white Gen Xers turned out to be huge racists. Maybe at least rewrite that insult, yeah?

you know what? If you come on here and you say, "There is no use in voting. We're never getting out of this by voting," you're going to get pushback. And you should.

If you have suggestions, fine. Make them, but right now, we are actually flipping districts that haven't been Democratic for 40 yrs

I get where you're coming from, but I believe that sentiment needs to be spread beyond her. No matter who ends up being the Dem nominee in 28, folks need to understand that we're electing a president, not a miracle worker.

People are convinced that "I don't care about polling" means that 1) He's going to be dictator for life, or 2) This is somehow a genius 5D chess move. The answer is 3) he knows he's a lame duck and doesn't give a tenth of a shit about what happens to the party after he's gone.

02.03.2026 15:31 β€” πŸ‘ 56    πŸ” 13    πŸ’¬ 5    πŸ“Œ 0

I need to remind people. The midterms have never been so important.

Don't let people use scare tactics or make you think it won't happen.

also if voting didn't matter gerrymandering wouldn't exist.

02.03.2026 09:12 β€” πŸ‘ 3992    πŸ” 1279    πŸ’¬ 78    πŸ“Œ 29

Listen closely πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡.

I will add one thing. It’s also the reason why you needed to give two successive terms to a democratic president(s). Most things in politics take time. If you let a republican take over after only 4 years of a democratic president you throw any progress right out the window.

A titan of vaccine development sees his field’s achievements slip away Stanley Plotkin, the 93-year-old "godfather of vaccines," is watching his field’s achievements slip away.

Stanley Plotkin had a major hand in the development of a number of vaccines in use today; he designed the rubella vaccine. He remembers the world before widespread use of vaccines & knows what's coming as vaccine policy is rewritten & vaccine confidence is eroded. www.statnews.com/2026/03/02/s...

Republicans facing 'escalating backlash' as signature billΒ closes more hospitals: report President Donald Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill Act" is triggering a healthcare crisis across rural America, forcing hospitals to close maternity wards, shutter clinics and lay off staff β€” and those ...

Remember who's at fault here:

"When combined with Republicans' refusal to extend enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies, the result is catastrophic for already-fragile hospital systems."

The number of times I had to remind myself it’s March now today…I think having the first of the month on Sunday, the no brain day, was the major culprit. πŸ˜‚

I’m going to regret this but let’s try again:

Jeffries and Schumer don’t control Congress Mike Johnson and John Thune do. As long as the latter abandon their constitutionally mandated responsibilities this is where we are.

Next election when you’re told that democracy is on the line pay attention.

When people spread the lie that Republicans are strong and Democrats are weak, they knowingly spread Republican propaganda.

When they claim Dems never stopped McConnell.

When they claim McConnell always blocked Dems.

When they lie about Obama’s β€œsupermajority.”

When they claim Dems always lose.

One helpful thing is going to be watching how this plays out for Trump’s folks, who clearly think the laws and poll numbers will swing their way if they just post through it.

I think as a general rule it would be good for the Democratic Party to nominate younger candidates on average but we may have rung that bell a little too hard if people look at β€œis Old” and β€œis maybe Nazi” and see the first as worse.

01.03.2026 21:51 β€” πŸ‘ 313    πŸ” 71    πŸ’¬ 14    πŸ“Œ 7

The attacks on Jeffries and Schumer hurt the entire Democratic Party because those two people are who our Democratic representatives chose to lead them in Congress.

The unwillingness of the unaffiliated leftists to accept that fact is a big problem in our fight against fascism.

So many ostensibly straight news stories just flatly assumed that any friction in leaving Afghanistan had to be a result of incompetence by Biden, like there was a "no chaos" button he could have pushed to make the mass withdrawal of troops from an instantly failed state happen with no risk

i think it is also important to retain your capacity to be shocked by this kind of thing, because it *is* shocking. it *should* shock you, even if none of us have any explanation for being *surprised* by it at this point.
