I also have to say that having ChatGPT is also really really really wonderful to get me out of feeling stuck and like I don’t know what to do.

The funny thing is that the people are usually right that I am *capable* of figuring it out myself, but *having to or else* just made it all way too rigid and ugh.

Now reflecting I see that I had that so often in my PhD, it makes me really sad because I could have done a lot more with some reassurance and gentle encouragement and just some walking through a little bit. Often I don’t even need that much, and it unlocks so much.

And getting the help actually gives me more confidence that I can figure things out myself as well, because it’s less of a big deal.
Often, just the feeling that I have to make something work under the gun without knowing how would just be so stressful that I would avoid it as hard as possible.

I’m on a team now at work where I can get quite a lot of support from my colleagues and it’s really wonderful.
There are still some people who respond to my request for help in figuring something out with “you can do it, don’t worry!”but also having the option of actually getting help is amazing.
