I am immensely disappointed that the Government has today scrapped permanent refugee status. Refugees will now face reviews every 30 months and be forced to return if their country is deemed 'safe'.

We know that countries listed as 'safe' aren't safe for everybody, particularly LGBTQ+ refugees.

Compare and contrast Starmer calling Green's "extremists", "divisive" and "sectarian" with Mahmood repeating false Reform claims about "legitimate concerns" and "strain on public services". It isn't a choice between Reform and Labour when end result is the same.

Reform's language may be more hostile, although that is debatable with some of this government's rhetoric, and their policies more explicitly racist, but the outcome is the same, migrants being denied rights and deported, asylum seekers left without safety, and embedding racism all for starters.

We killed 85 schoolgirls. We are not the good guys.

What the Greens did is the opposite of sectarianism. They looked at what the British public might be interested in and what unites them. Muslims don’t just vote on Gaza you plebs. They’re in the economy, housing crisis and using the NHS too. We’re whole people.

At this point, it’s a conscious choice to ignore the harm their policies are doing, both to migrant communities and to their electoral prospects - suggesting it’s an ideological commitment, at least for Mahmood. Also disingenuous to conflate the planned change to settlement with ‘illegal migration’

The current argument of the British right is that Muslims turned out in "blocs" with "family voting" to cast their ballots for a party led by a gay Jewish man, and this shows that multiculturalism has failed, voting is "sectarian" and we are in a crisis.

Hmmmmmm.

Hard to recall a war that even those starting it couldn't really come up a pretence for. They've already blown up nuclear weapons capacity and bombing won't force the regime out.

It’s a running joke in academia that Matt Goodwin is bad at maths.

This sort of thing is why: the combined Labour/Green vote could have split in any way possible and Goodwin would have finished 2nd or 3rd. He did not lose because progressives coordinated. He lost *in spite of them not doing so*.

If the Muslims were integrated, they would have…voted for a more socially conservative candidate? As ever “Want to get stupider? Try Racism (TM)” never fails.

I’m afraid this letter shows why so many Labour MPs think Starmer needs to go. His political antenna is non-existent. If you have just been humbled in a by-election it might not be the best idea to slag off the choices of the voters who deserted you in their droves.
