I think dinner lady is right. Means testing fails to address neglect. My parents could afford to ensure I had breakfast for example, but did not have the parenting will to do this. I also think lunches should be vegan / vegetarian so that most kids can eat the same food regardless of culture

My most common crumpet topping ( at least weekly ) is a poached egg. No butter, let the yolk fill those delicious holes with luxurious ooze and a treat becomes a quick, low calorie but luxurious meal!

I buy bone less sardines . Usually skinless too. I cannot take the bones at all.

We have sardines on toast quite often as a cheap, easy meal. Sardines mixed with cheese , a dash of Worcestershire sauce and ketchup then put under a grill.

I love my snuggly terrier so much but wish he would not insist on trying to sit on my stomach While I am being sick.

My favourite part of each day is before bed when each cat gets a thrive chicken treat and asks for it with a kiss .

I used to think a bit like this. Dried pulses etc are cheap. Then I understood that these take significantly longer to cook and energy costs have not remained static either. Food and cooking good both are expensive.
