Why is every pro-AI post an open threat? When the internet got made they said i could use the computer to send mail, not like "use AOL or we'll murder you"??

lol, I have told people I was social on the Internet before social media existed. I got my first Internet account and was IRCing in 1995.

I'd like to claim this was a penetrating insight but... water is wet, dogs bark, etc. 🤷‍♂️

When I read something like this, I imagine pitching it as a freelancer: "It's a commentary on John Tory. We are good friends, and I'm going to discuss his legacy and his thoughts, but I won't quote him at all. Two consecutive paragraphs will start with 'For me...'. Do I get the gig?"

I find digital menus the single most accessible example of an upgrade implemented poorly because the point of the solution was forgotten and supplanted with something else completely unrelated to the original need.

Yesterday in Tim Hortons, every single digital menu changed at once to advertise the current roll up the rim promotion. Sales paused while customers in line waited to see the menu again.

The "I'll order the uh... where'd it go?" reaction from the elder gentleman at the counter was illustrative.
