Check out our new discovery! JWST is finding black holes in the very early universe, and this galaxy is the most distant one with a clear signal of a growing black hole! Awesome work by lead author Anthony Taylor at @utaustin.bsky.social !

The early universe continues to amaze - led by UT/CFC postdoc Anthony Taylor, we've discovered an extremely distant black hole (the most distant "broad line AGN"). This black hole is *massive*, and may even have more mass than its surrounding galaxy! Check out more here:
