Came here for this comment. Also make sure the friend has a complete thyroid work up by a decent endocrinologist. Mast cell activation has a deep tie in with thyroid health. A friend recently learned her rash, fatigue, weight up and down, etc. was all about thyroid.

They used to hunt in a brace like true form dachshunds, but have both been very independent. The boy (19) a more mellow leader. Girl very reactive to all dogs. Both perfectly sweet to humans they know. Yet competitive with each other.
