If you're wondering where to go now for some kids learning magic at school you might want to try Lowborn High by me, Anna Morozova and Mike Walters.

That blinkin' Andrew Michael Hurley has done me a dirty. But you can still put Withered Hill and Scuttler's Cove in their rightful positions at the top, by spending less than Β£2.50 on both of my folk horror novels.

The most important British character in US comics Alfred Pennyworth? Captain Britain? No, it’s a trench-coated, chain-smoking reprobate who this year celebrates his 40th birthdayβ€”John Constantine

DC comic writer Alan Moore, creator of Watchmen, also conjured the trench-coated, chain-smoking British reprobate John Constantineβ€”who this year celebrates his 40th birthday, writes @davidmbarnett.bsky.social.

Emails with the sender's name ALL IN CAPITALS unaccountably give me the fear.

God, that's horrible! I mean, if this was at the time of Hellblazer there was quite a lot of proof of your writing ability around...

Do writers genuinely work in coffee shops? I can't get my head round the logistics. What do you do when you want a wee or a smoke? Leave your laptop on a table? Doesn't it cost a fortune? Surely a minumum of one, more likely two coffees an hour. And definitely food if you're there above four hours.

Oh, definitely. Brian Azzarello's run in the very early 2000s leaned a lot into this.

It was an original graphic novel, not part of the Hellblazer run (I think). It’s very good!

It’s addressed in the piece. UK pronunciation is -Tyne… if you remember that’s the river flowing through Newcastle, it’s easy! Most US people say -Teen
