Strawberry blonde, but dyed it yellow blonde in his heyday. But in his elder years his hair was distinctly ginger and it faded back to a blonde shade rather than grey, which is not unusual with redheads. Also one of his sons has bright ginger hair. He's got the ginge gene for sure.
