Seth - I think he literally does. I think his belief system literally works this way. Like, exactly this way.

One off elementary school here.

One off wedding ceremony there.

One off torture incident. One off US troops raping women and girls incident.

This is literally war. It is literally why we avoid it, not seek it out.

Not to mention, many of us were alive to watch the truly mind boggling scope of the original β€œshock and awe” attack on Iraq.

This is ONE of the things that happen when you do that.

They shelter their assets until there is zero tax.

The rules are made by the rich for the rich. I’m in this little club and I’m here to tell you, it’s a rigged system.

True. But…

The employees make salaries. C suite executives with options and RSUs make outrageous sums when demand like this kicks in. Employees might see 5% or 10% raises, all of which is taxed heavily. Execs make multiples on their salary, and they enjoy lower tax rates or even better…

Actually, very smart.

A small group of people make a lot of money from the deployment of weapons.

Yes, but always remember… shitty people can never do good things.

Or if they do, don’t mention it.

Isn’t it the supplemental funding that Dems are not approving? Doesn’t DHS have something like $90 B to continue operations?

Prediction: β€œThe DOW is at 50,000 dollars” will be yelled at some point during this hearing.

Trump has been doing this for decades. It’s who he is. He did this kind of thing during his first term, relentlessly and obviously.

Yet American voters still voted for him.

In fact, that’s the best question from and critical reporter when this framing is brought up: Are we at war with Russia? Are we at war with North Korea?

Amazing to think that the roadblock to advanced evolutions of compassion and morality comes directly from frameworks put in place by totally ignorant humans, thousands of years ago, all originally intending to encourage compassion and morality.

I’m OK with this on one condition:

If Jesus does not come back in the next, say, 3 years, can we move on from all of this Christian nonsense?

β€œAnd if he does, I’ll be there to deny I ever said this while saying it was a good thing to get into a prolonged war that killed many Americans.”

I agree with this.

Where I disagree with Tom and side with Eddie is on the question of patriotism.

In this episode, Eddie was explicit about his position that he doesn’t feel a love for the country. This is a deep and nuanced issue, but I see and support his position.

I’m certain there is no heaven and that doesn’t change my strong desire to do the right thing.

Religious people are whack.

I read posts like this and the first thing I always think of is… Why can’t everyone in America see this for what it is?

It’s so obvious.

Q: "Do you think that Donald Trump should be deposed by this Committee?"

Hillary Clinton: "Absolutely."

"Donald Trump has been held civilly liable for sexual assault by a jury of his peers … That is behavior that fits a pattern if one were looking for a pattern."

Fantastic episode. Tom is excellent. I don’t agree with him - I am more of an Eddie Glaude type in this discussion - but the whole conversation is excellent.

Watching Hillary Clinton cook James Comer & Republicans in her opening statement to the House Oversight Committee during her deposition is way better than just reading it.

This is a hugely important point.

I think this dichotomy exists because one party earnestly and pragmatically tries to solve real problems while the other party prioritizes political gain and retaining power over a sincere interest in improving our country.

Pretty much evergreen.
