Procrastination except it's me stalling on buying the last few things on the baby list because they're the big expensive ones and even though we need them I'm just uuuugjfjghghfh at how much money it all costs 😭😭😭

I know this is a weird thing to be smug about, but every time I get a good grade in being pregnant (blood pressure, urine dip, fundal height etc) it feels like a very satisfying middle finger to every statistic that says I can't possibly have a low risk pregnancy as a fat person.

An hour later and in classic cat behaviour we have the evergreen "I will sit near you but I'm not going to make it look like I'm actually ENJOYING it. Just coincidental that I'm laying here. Pure chance. Tbh I didn't even know you were also here."

There is no greater joy in life than the happy chirps and tail wibbles of your cat when you get home after a day at work. Like, yes! I am home! And I am so pleased to see you too!!

I have been laying awake for 2 hours for absolutely no reason (it is now 5am) and I'm not mad at all about mr em gently snuffling away next to me the whole time but also I am absolutely irrationally enraged that he gets to do that all carefree and whatever

I love modern medicine I love vaccines I love that modern medicine means I can have vaccines now that will protect my still in utero kiddo when she eventually makes her way earthside and I love trusting actual medical professionals with things!!!

The guy doing my maternity cover started today which is making this whole thing feel VERY REAL and VERY SOON but tbh I am very much looking forward to 57 entire weeks away from this place 🫠

I am 5'11 and loooong in the torso, so you'd be forgiven for thinking this kid would have plenty of space to dick around in there but fuck me if there's only so many more weeks of getting munted right in the ribcage I can take 🫠

I think it's probably that I teach teenagers so the majority of my unsolicited and unhinged commentary is coming from them 🙃🙃🙃

The worst thing I have learnt whilst being pregnant is the new knowledge that experiencing a process society deems the absolute height of femininity brings out the worst in young men's misogyny. I have never experienced more degrading behaviour from teenage boys than I have the last 5-6 months.

And does it take them months if not years to make the connection? Maybe. Do the croissants taste even better when Ed's delivering them straight to bed with a cup of decaf and a kiss? Abso-fuckin-lutely. (3/3)

because his sleep pattern is completely up the spout but a still-warm almond croissant really does soothe the damage a little. And occasionally ed texts in requests for songs at 4am, and stede always wonders what kinds of people are actually up listening to him at fuck o'clock in the morning (2/3)

I think a lot about an ed who gets up at 3am every morning to do all the prep work for his tiny side alley bakery, with only the unnecessarily chirpy witching hour radio host for company. And a stede who stops by the bakery closest to his house every morning for a pastry before bed (1/3)

It just does not seem reasonable for me to be expected to perform my job like normal while a small human does her best to escape my body via my abdominal wall for 20 min bursts at a time.

Life is a disaster but I did at least come out of a meeting today with my headteacher fully encouraging me to game the shared parental leave system to get an extra 9 weeks of full pay mat leave. AND it means Mr Em can take as many of those 9 weeks as he can as extra paternity leave. Small wins.
