It has officially happened. I have been officially let go from my position at CDC. I wasnโt a probationary employee. I had stellar performance reviews every year.
Iโll be ok. But please understand that many worked HARD to get into these positions and were doing great public health work.
We want to take a moment to express how proud we are of you, America. You have stood up and spoken out every step of the wayโespecially when Congress and the media remained silent. When we called for help, you answered.

There is no hyperbole in your statement. Civilization is built on these, truly. Long live park rangers and librarians.

Still interested in the TikTok alternative you proposed last week, where the video versions of said memes could flourish. While we can do video on Bluesky, a platform where shortform video is "the thing" is still needed. The presence of video on Twitter doesn't prevent people from opening TikTok.

The graphic looks at Phos-chek, a fire retardant which contains ammonium phosphates or sulfates as the active ingredient. The red colour comes from iron(III) oxide. While Phos-Chek only causes mild skin and eye irritation for humans, itโs hazardous to aquatic organisms. When applied in front of wildfires, Phos-Chek forms phosphate esters which form a protective char that slows wildfiresโ spread.
