Icing on the cake is that there’s basically no bike parking at Dakota Crossing, despite ample open space.

The hardest part of #NationalWeekWithoutDriving was this morning’s trip to @dickssportinggoods.bsky.social. There’s no good metro or bus options from Capitol Hill, and biking (which we did) means crossing NY Ave, which is astonishingly unpleasant.

It’s frustrating that Red Bear Brewing is family unfriendly after 8pm. I get that bars are trying to create a vibe, but that place is otherwise so welcoming.

Anyone know why this jogs from one side to the other midway? I rode it for the first time tonight and I didn’t love it.

Found myself in Portland today. Thought I’d share a couple scenes of the mayhem and war ravagedness. Somehow people were still strolling and brunching. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Kimmel’s refusal to capitulate stands out because so many other well-situated peopleβ€”those with the resources, platform, and power to stand up to the president, including, initially, the leaders of ABCβ€”have surrendered, withdrawn, or become Trump sycophants themselves. One by one, American leaders supposedly committed to principles of free speech, due process, democracy, and equality have abandoned those ideals when menaced by the Trump administration. These cascading acts of cowardice from the people best positioned to resist Trump’s authoritarian power grabs have made Trump seem exponentially more powerful than he actually is, sapping strength from others who might have discovered the courage to stand up. Defending democracy requires a collective refusal to acquiesce to lawless behavior from many different sectors of society. All of these powerful people trying to save their own skin have effectively multiplied Trump’s attacks on constitutional government, by enhancing a false sense of inevitability and invincibility.

Kimmel’s defiant return highlights one of the most disturbing dynamics of Trump II, that so many people in positions of leadership are chickenshit frauds who would rather fold in advance than put up anything resembling a fight www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

NEW: We won our first court judgment against a dangerous out-of-state driver under the STEER Act.

The Court ordered Ayanna Khalya Wilson to pay $77,100 for over 200 dangerous driving violations.

We also filed 12 new lawsuits against Maryland and Virginia drivers with nearly 2,000 traffic offenses.

Smart. I feel like the answer is going to be obvious, but why not install them flat, flush with the top of the unit, rather than angled?

11 yr old was navigating himself up to meet me at NOMA station this afternoon. I said β€œmeet me at the south entrance” and he said β€œwhat letter is that one?”

Shows the wayfinding power of what @wmata.com has done at L’Enfant+ and wouldn’t it be great if every station entrance had a letter?

Agree. Maybe it’s just because I’m not a frequent red line rider, but SG/Glemont refuses to become intuitive in my brain in a way that’s not an issue with all of the other lines.

I had to order Dominos for a kid’s birthday party today, so I tried this. Possible I just ordered wrong, but while decent I didn’t find the thin crust experience transcendent. I was better than regular dominos pizza, I’ll say.

I find I have to be *really* careful, especially when driving on my normal biking routes, because my instinct is to go with the walk sign, go though stop signs in a way that’s legal on a bike, etc. Habits are tough, man.

The FCC chairman is ignoring the very intention of the First Amendment. It was written to prevent exactly what he is suggesting. Canceling Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert are what happens when media corporations accept and even embrace the bastardizing of the First Amendment.

The 5 e-bikes were better, averaging 42, which matches my experience (e-bike tires feel better inflated). Here’s the raw data:

Reg: 20, 30, 24, 28, 38, 30, 25, 37, 33, 45
E-bike: 40, 33, 50, 40, 47

For the past month almost every regular CaBi I ride feels sluggish like the tire is low. Today I checked 15 bikes on the rack near my house, and the average pressure was 31, below the rated range of 35-70. Lowest was 20. @bikeshare.bsky.social can you check pressures on bikes generally? 1/

Right Turn on Red: It’s Time to Reconsider - Toole Design Toole Design's Bill Schultheiss and Mariel Colman unpack why it's time to move away from a blanket approach to right turn on red (RTOR).

"In DC a pilot (banning right turn on red) at 74 intersections led to a 92% reduction in failure-to-yield incidents and a 97% drop in vehicle conflicts"

Why cities like DC, Raleigh, Ann Arbor, Cambridge & Seattle are rethinking right turn on red @schlthss.bsky.social tooledesign.com/insights/202...
