Mine is too I believe.. Which sounds nice but in reality, like you said, it means you get a steady stream of bots. I have no idea how many active people follow me, but it's surely not 15k humans.

Inktober Day 5, "Deer": The Peryton is a creature which first appeared in the "Book of Imaginary Beings", inspired by medieval heraldry. Though they appear as seen, they cast the shadow of a human, their preferred prey. According to D&D, they particularly enjoy dining on the heart of their victim. 🦌

I started this piece a good while ago with just the line drawing. The board was put aside and then moved about, getting a bit abused. I challenged myself to fix it and finish it. It’s finally done. Almost. πŸ˜‚

My friend Todd’s paper on cassowary casques was published in @amornith.bsky.social’s journal Ornithology, β€œSpecies-specific casque shapes in the genus Casuarius and implications for visual display.” He had me do the scientific illustrations for the paper 😊

A herd of mammoths, with three large individuals up front, and lots of smaller, more distant individuals in the background, surrounding a shallow Pleistocene lake. They stand on browning, yellowing grass in front of a blue, partly cloudy sky. The mammoths are variable in colour, some being dark, some pale. A juvenile mammoth, blonde all over, has broken ranks and started chasing mallards around a pond. He has made a little grebe nervous. Why has this baby mammoth started attacking other species? Well, animals are a lot like people, Mrs. Simpson. Some of them act badly because they’ve had a hard life or have been mistreated. But, like people, some of them are just jerks.

New #paleoart posted to #Patreon: woolly mammoths around a duck-filled lake. Accompanying the hi-res and WIPs of this image is a discussion about mammoth colour: the uniform red-brown mammoths of classic palaeoart seem unlikely now. Check it out at www.patreon.com/posts/night-...

I love finding solitary mossy rocks like this, I always want to paint them with something sitting on top. Feel free to use this as an art reference, if you do I'd love to see.

We were lucky to meet up with this shrew (Vagrans?) yesterday in the πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦Rockies. Video is the very best way to illustrate the energy these teeny mammals need to exert to make a non-stop living. #mammals

Monochrome drawing of a rhinoceros on tan paper. Light is coming from the right, with most of the rhino in shade with detailed skin. There are claw marks in front of its eye, and a bird is perched on top. The background is rendered in a simpler style.

Something like that could be great if treated like a daily sketch or warmup, and ink can help build line confidence. Not sure how it was intended at first, but the nature of posting it meant there definitely came to be a social pressure to make amazing daily drawings.

Very kind, thank you. It can be difficult to use the medium in a way that doesn't just create a gray blob, but also isn't too contrasting.

Process (2)
For the brightest lights I used white charcoal pencil, and for the reflected light in the shadows I mixed the white and black charcoal which gives it a comparatively cool tone compared to the paper. (The paper color got pretty washed out in the WIP photos)
