I'm definitely familiar with the G series. I still use a G11 as a walk-around camera for its vintage CCD sensor. The first camera I used for IR was a Canon A590 IS - unmodified. I used CHDK to get raw and long shutter speeds out of it. Enjoy yours!

That's cool. Kalamazoo has a serious car entitlement problem. That is, if you're not in a car, you don't have any status. There's a widely ignored statute to shovel sidewalks in winter, but in some places it's a mile between crosswalks. And the drivers want to burn those who added bike lanes.

I spent almost twenty years in the Evangelical cult. I finally left when their reactions to Trump and COVID peeled the scales off my eyes. Reformed and CRC are huge around here. Dutch settlers were the original undocumented immigrants in West Michigan 🤣

I generally don't post photos of homeless people on social media, but I often encounter them and evidence of their presence on my walks. For you and me, snow is a passing inconvenience, or something beautiful to behold. For people without a place to live, it can be the end of the world.

No, no earlier shots. I've let the snow limit my lunchtime walks a bit this season. As for riding on snow, I've been there, and totally agree - but this fellow probably feels lucky to have a bicycle at all, much less worry about fat tires and studs. He's headed to a homeless "camp" north of town.
