It’s extremely important to contact your representatives on these things. In Ohio, our government is controlled by a majority republicans. We need to let our representatives know that they are supported by their voters so they will keep trying to get things like this done.

Same sex marriage is legal, for now, bc of one SCOTUS case, Obergefell v. Hodges. As we saw with Roe v. Wade, SCOTUS can overturn this case. If that happens, this provision of Ohio law would prohibit same sex marriage. That’s why it matters.

What can you do about this? Email or call your Ohio rep & senator, tell them that you support same sex marriage & you want them to support H.B. 332.

Did you know that CURRENT Ohio law prohibits same sex marriage? That’s right, R.C. 3101.01 states “same sex marriage is against the policy of this state” & any same sex marriage “shall be of no legal force.” Ohioans, is that what we really believe? I don’t think so.

- revoked two Biden EOs related to reproductive healthcare issued after Roe was overturned. Those EOs directed HHS to ensure access to FDA approved abortion medication & directed HHS to better protect reproductive health information (aka use HIPAA to protect info from being used for prosecution)

- a federal hiring freeze
- rescinded DOJ job offers from law students
- got rid of funding for NIH, including cancer research
- fired inspector generals without providing proper notice to congress
- paused federal funding for certain grants and loans (& created confusion)

- signed an EO proclaiming there are only 2 biological sexes.
- renamed the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of “America”.
- reversed the renaming of Mount Denali (done by Obama to recognize Alaska natives) to Mount McKinley

- cancelled flights for afghan refugees, including ones for family members of U.S. servicemembers & those who helped the U.S. military.
- withdrew the U.S. from the World Health Organization
- withdrew the U.S. from the Paris Climate Agreement

-rescinded Biden’s EOs related to climate change, protecting the LGBT, and advancing minorities.
- got rid of reproductive rights .gov.
- pardoned Jan 6th rioters, including ones who beat police officers.

In a little over a week of being president, Trump has:
- rescinded Biden’s executive order that lowered the cost of certain prescription drugs.
- signed an EO attempting to end “birth right citizenship” in direct contradiction of the 14th amendment.

Trump just announced that he is signing an executive order later today to send migrants who are living illegally in the United States and cannot be deported to their home countries. This is terrifying.
