Studies show that engaging in cultural activities (including sports) is an antidote to depression and loneliness- connecting with others and sharing experiences is medicine folks.

Once on jury duty the judge cleared the courtroom so I could explain to him why I couldn’t be an objective jurist when the defendant (young black woman) had no witnesses to testify on her behalf and they had 3 cops on their side. My brother in law is a retired cop. I couldn’t trust their testimony.

We don’t have to wait for some grand Utopian future. The future is an infinite succession of presence, and to live now as we think human beings should live, in defiance of all that is bad around us, is it self a marvelous victory. A quote by Howard Zinn, historian

To your point however, those who can step outside of the box we're in and engage in systems thinking are desperately needed now to both prepare for more damage anticipated in the next three years AND plan for a better future.
