Very interesting critical evaluation of things that media struggled with for communication during the #pandemic. @picardonhealth.bsky.social :
-Communicating uncertainty
-Showing the equity impacts

Deep thoughts about the state of the world at the PERL launch: "Maybe the withdrawal of the US from bilateral structures, and the increasing reliance on bilateral agreements, is lifting the blanket and showing us the state of how things have been for a long time".

Midway through #IGWG4, progress on the #PandemicAgreement’s #PABS Annex remains slow, with several pending issues and limited negotiation days.

Here are key midweek takeaways 🧵👇🏼

At the #UnionConf World Conference on Lung Health in Copenhagen, our Steering Committee member, Dr @yassentch.bsky.social presented how gaps in Canada’s health system make it harder for people to get the TB medicines they need, and how providers are helping drive change.

Interesting #epi conversation during session on #TB diagnostics at #WCLH2025 about diagnostic yield and tradeoff between accessibility and sensitivity.
Conclusion: yield of tongue swabs is not inferior to sputum, using both maximizes yield.

#WCLH2025: TB medications:
We are in an oasis of new developments.
We are in the midst robust drug pipeline in history.

Will those developments be available to Canadians when they become available to the world? There are already many challenges to access for currently exciting medications!

My call to participants:
Identify a community of which you are part and how you would like to organise to impact the world.
Find someone from a community where you live, work, or serve.
Plan how you can give power to a community you serve or take power for a community you represent.

It was an honor to speak at the @who.int #EndTB summit at the #WCLH2025 and sharing thoughts about how critical community engagement is especially at times of growing resources constraints.

Why is it that at every conference these days, we have to discuss how Visa issues further exacerbate inequities in the world; the invited keynote speaker shouldn't be denied telling their story #WCLH2025.

Very moving to see Henry Reider, the main character through whose eyes we see #Tuberculosis in John Green's book!
It's amazing to be at a conference that not only brings together the top scientists in a field but also the people who live with the disease we talk about! #WCLH2025.

Fun to have @johngreensbluesky.bsky.social as the opening keynote of the #WCLH2025. With his book "Everything Is Tuberculosis" he did an amazing work of popularising TB science in a way that other, beyond scientists and clinicians deeply involved in this work can understand!

As a public health physician, I’m deeply concerned when tools designed to protect and improve health are repurposed to restrict access to care. Such misuse undermines public trust, threatens privacy, and directly contradicts core medical and public health ethical principles.

As the @medwma.bsky.social just concluded its GA discussing critical medical ethics issues, it has come to my attention that wastewater-based surveillance is being politicized to track compounds linked to reproductive and gender-affirming care in the US!
