That's right. You got no leg to stand on, Newsom supporters. Shut your hole. We don't need anti trans anti homeless greaseball shit. North Carolina is purple, it's not some blue stronghold.

Conventional wisdom is a really fascinating phenomenon. We're at the point where "everyone knows" kids were being rushed into inappropriate gender transition.

There are between zero and 10 recorded cases of this happening (depending on your definition of rushed).

Every trans woman I know has had "why not be an effeminate man?" shoved in our faces for ages and yet thus piece suggests that even once suggesting an effeminate boy might be trans is some sort of crime against humanity.

This is transphobia.

1) Escape the Darkwalker: love the survival horror shift and appreciate Hinterland not just rehashing the Wendigo
2) Hunted, Part 1: reminiscent of The Revenant, frightening at times but satisfying once I outsmarted the Old Bear
3) Archivist: pushed me to travel at night and unveiled Great Bear lore

This game is about to release into Early Access TODAY and I have a spare giveaway key. I'll post it into the replies for anyone to grab once this post reaches 500 reposts

Sucks that someone else's failures are hanging you and your family out to dry. Hope they do right by you and get themselves sorted soon.

whether war, vaccines, or critical infrastructure there is contingent of the right that seems to believe that their security from the worst things that happen is some kind of metaphysical principle rather than the result of specific historical processes that could've gone otherwise and still could

a thing historians will marvel about when they study this era is the extent to which the "war is a thing that happens to poorer, browner people" class went about systematically dismantling every aspect of the global political order that confined the costs of war to poorer and browner people

Good for Weston. Hopefully the deal included assurances that Spalletti is staying as well. I'm old enough to remember Serie A being considered too cerebral and tactical a league for Americans, so having guys like McKennie and Pulisic be integral parts of their clubs is quite the thing to see.

So that's at least two 'superpowers' apparently flummoxed by the notion that the people you're shooting at will shoot back at you. My kingdom for a government that can think beyond the next news cycle.

I don't think people's problem with, for example, the paper's decade-long crusade putting a big ol' target on trans people's backs can be accurately described as NYT doing "reporting that doesn't always 100% accord with what advocacy groups want."

Those three downed jets run around $90 million each.

It cost $20 million a year to operate the food kitchens serving 816,000 people in Sudan.

This is a reminder that just because someone occupies a high position on an org chart does not mean that they are in any way, shape, or form smart.

I can't agree. "Should" suggests an obligation to give some of an op-ed page's limited space to policy advocates simply because said policy is in the news. Let advocates issue press releases or buy ads; a newspaper's job is to report the truth, not freely hand out a platform to the powerful.

02.03.2026 05:02 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I'm not sure about wide acceptance. I work on an op-ed page and this is the first I've heard of this requirement. I do agree that running such pieces is a choice. Papers exist to report truth, not equally amplify lies. Just because something is in the news doesn't mean someone's opinion on it is.

1. This is despicably evil.
2. This needs to be fought at every level. There is no world in which this cannot be considered cruel and unusual punishment.
3. Those behind this effort need to be exposed and never know a moments peace.

i think there's a sort of dynamic at play where the GOP get more leeway on international conflict due to how they're dad/man-coded whereas Dems are not

For years we said they’re going for a genocide of trans people and for years we were told to β€œstop being so dramatic.”

Now we’re at the point of human experimentation with the explicit goal of eradicating us.

Can we call the genocide a fucking genocide now?

There’s no excuse for your random cis friends and family not to understand this as an obsessive hate campaign by lying bigots. Whatever anyone’s opinion on trans people, even the most ardent lunatic cannot deny the existence of people who transitioned decades ago and have yet to β€˜get over it’.

Absolutely! It was a pleasure, and I've been spreading the word to my fellow indie game fans. I did have one small thing to pass along -- spotted a typo in one of the early text boxes.

thinking about the players and staff of Iran’s women’s national team who woke up in Australia today to the news that their homeland had been bombed. how anyone can focus on sport in the midst of these horrors is beyond me. they play their first game tomorrow.

Like at the very bare minimum of humanity to you want people who care and feel the weight of what they do, you want Abraham Lincoln struggling with his view of God and the decisions he makes as President, and the weight of all of it, and it just feels like it’s playing with toys and it’s perverse

It’s been terrifying to have almost every year in the past 20 years be a lesson in how many people with power make decisions about who lives and dies with little thought or care or even a clear idea as to why they’re doing anything, and it’s terrifying that it seems to be getting worse

we were probably all up last night staring at the ceiling with our own version of the same thought running on endless loop, but mine looked something like this:

I hate these people to a degree that feels simultaneously corrosive to the soul, and also the only righteous response to this kind of evil
