Oh I absolutely agree with that. But his entry into the world is more as someone in love with a revolutionary than in love with revolution and there’s some resentment there that invites reflection

I listened to an interview with Van der Kulk a few years back that’s still with me. His description of America as a post alcoholic culture literally had me pulling to the side of the road to sit with it a minute

The difference between Bob and all the other revolutionaries in the film is that he’s particularly aggrieved by his circumstances. I think it highlights the fact that for the poc in the movie, revolution is existential and community is a necessity but for him it’s just something that happened to him
