pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32716281/ it has been studied wrt mood benefits in populations with lithium rich water. The neuro protective benefits have been apparent for several years so this research is probably being done unless and until the current admin guts it.

We’ve known for some time that lithium is neuro protective. I don’t know this newer research but previous research found it beneficial at doses of 150mg daily or even lower which is well below the threshold for any significant side effects.
