Yes I know "wetware" is a real term but I can imagine a company trademarking it.

In and next to the machine are a pair of sheets of paper with patterns of rectangles; the one in the machine is titled "Wonders of modern science", while the one next to it is titled "How to operate your Sheetscan machine".
Fictional analogue media format, called "Sheetscan"! It uses sheets with patterns on them, which can be decoded into video... somehow. And with no sound.
