Approval Suspension. The provision of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act that specifies the circumstances in which a drug application can be withdrawn, 21 U.S.C. § 355(e), includes authority to suspend an application prior to its withdrawal. In particular, **if the Secretary of Health and Human Services 1 [refers to footnote 1] finds that a drug presents “an imminent hazard to the public health,” he may suspend the approval of the application (including a supplemental application) “immediately.”** 21 U.S.C. § 355(e). The Secretary then must “give the applicant [aka the drug manufacturer] prompt notice of his action and afford the applicant the opportunity for an expedited hearing” on whether to withdraw approval. Id. Approval may be withdrawn if, among other things, “new evidence of clinical
experience . . . evaluated together with the evidence available to [FDA] when the application was approved, shows that such drug is not shown to be safe for use under the conditions of use upon the basis of which the application was approved.” Id. § 355(e)(2).
Apart from the Secretary’s suspension authority, there are no “interim orders” FDA could issue. However, FDA possesses authority to require a sponsor to propose changes to a drug’s conditions of use, including by adding or modifying a REMS requirement related to prescribing or dispensing. The timing of implementation is...

NEW: The FDA just outlined the ways it could restrict the abortion drug mifepristone during its horseshit "safety" review. The first? RFK Jr. has the power to immediately suspend the approval of drugs that he deems “an imminent hazard to the public health”

The real insanity isn’t how much oil prices have spiked, it’s that we’re still burning oil for energy.

“Of the 279 people accused of attacking federal officers in the past year, 181 were US citizens. Close to half of those Americans were never charged with assault. None have been convicted at trial. Yet names, mug shots and other identifying details posted by the government put a bull’s-eye on them.”

Iran’s people were facing a horrible shortage of water before the war began. If we are destroying desalination plants and setting fire to Teheran we are committing unfathomable crimes.

The Most Chilling Detail in the U.S. Attack on an Iranian Naval Ship The Iranian warship was taking part in an international exercise with many other countries—including the United States.

This is a chilling crime. A shame on our country. The Iranian ship was unarmed. The US knew this. The sailors were murdered by our navy, and the survivors were left to die at sea.

Fewer Than 2% Of Older Pedestrians Can Cross The Street In Time The length of the green signal on pedestrian crossings assumes that people can walk at a speed of 1.2 m/s. Scientists find that very few older people can walk that fast.

My March story for @forbes.com has just gone live. It's all about pedestrian crossings and how the timings they're based on no longer match the demographics of our cities ⚛️🧪👩‍🔬

Most telling part of this rant: That the war will go on until "we decide it is over," not until the aims of the war are achieved - because there are no stated aims; and Trump prefers having none, so any result will allow him to try to claim a "win."

May I humbly suggest we dial back the hyper-fixation on how long the administration says war will last. No one ever knows because war is unpredictable & adversary gets a vote. Where the administration should be hammered is on the incoherent explanation of why they started the war in the first place.
