Why is the mill rate more for policing than it is for schools? What does that say about priorities that our taxes are higher for policing than it is for schooling?

Also, why are we paying more to an organization than undermines another, e.g., when the police chief got the school board fired?

@markusoff.bsky.social - I appreciate that you’re here; I don’t understand why your employer isn’t and why these garbage headlines that obscure traffic violence are allowed, either the original or the rewrite.

How does this headline happen? No one did in pedestrian collisions (someone collided with me yesterday and all it did was make me grumpy).

The headline should be β€œJeep driver hits, kills toddler in stroller at marked intersection”.

I’d tag the CBC but it’s not on this platform for some reason?

I had a pedestrian collision yesterday. I wanted to say β€œwatch where you’re walking” after he walked into me, but thought better of it. Pedestrian collisions don’t kill people.

Ugh. One cop recently blocked the ramp at the top of the path from Bridges Park. Same cop who needlessly turned on their lights to go through a red at Chatham and Govt, who I then caught up to on my bike at Store and JSB by not breaking any laws.

I think Victoria's elected officials generally know what's up. But there are structures and institutions that stand in the way. A block away from here is a narrow bike connection. The homeowner is willing to sell a sliver to widen the path, but the Transportation dept doesn't buy real estate so...

Trump is directing his Sec of War to send troops, using full force, into a US city, to fight a siege he made up, being fought by a group that doesn’t exist.

He’s declaring war on Americans exercising their 1st amendment rights to speak out and protest his attacks on democracy.

They’re also undertaking the only acceptable highway widening project, which is creating bus only lanes. If these stretch unbroken from downtown Victoria to the Colwood exchange, that will be a win. I’m also hoping for the train tracks that have been idle since 2011 to start hosting passenger rail.

Canada’s Conservatives can’t quit their grocery price politicking Climate change is obviously driving up the cost of food. Why can’t Canada’s Conservatives admit it?

Climate change is a far bigger contributor to food price inflation than federal climate policies in Canada. At some point, even the most blinkered Conservative partisan is going to have to face up to this politically inconvenient truth, @maxfawcett.bsky.social writes.

I’m glad the article also mentions Japan and South Korea. It’d be nice to see more Japanese trucks on our roads in place of the child crushing monstrosities pushed relentlessly at us through marketing.
