The intention is that opening the panels for submission will provide an avenue for scholars who don’t have existing networks in the field they are working in. Please send your paper submissions by Jan 30! We look forward to welcoming you to Heidelberg.

The list of accepted panels is: ecsas2025.com/panels/ Scholars are invited to identify a panel and make a submission. Paper submissions are decided on by the panel convenor. This is different to many other conferences in our field tend to be formed out of existing collaborations and networks.

The idea is that a panel topic is accepted, then it is declared open for submissions by anyone who is an EASAS member. Prospective panelists can join here: www.easas.eu/become-a-mem....

The ECSAS conference has a method of trying to open up panels to encourage collaboration, especially between Europe-based and South Asia based scholars (hence the European Conference for South Asian Studies), although scholars outside this region are also encouraged to submit too.

Colleagues in South Asian Studies, the deadline for submitting papers for ECSAS is January 30, 2025. People have asked me why, when they have had their panels accepted already, do they need to ask their panelists to submit paper proposals.

This is indeed Required Reading, delightful and insightful. I am hooked and can see how it can be used in seminars to bring colonial documentation into conversation with the rich ecosystem of texts in which they were written.
