Mostly I like it because I can write a long blog post and just check a box to email it to my subscribers, the pricing is sane and affordable for an individual writer like me and it can scale up to manage paid newsletters and other stuff (like subscriber-only posts) in a clear and fair way.

It's not a closed, proprietary 'platform' in the same way as Substack (you can self-host or pay to use a hosted version, which is what I do) so the moderation challenge is decentralised because it's lots of sites using a common protocol to talk to each other, rather than a single platform.

It's a combination website CMS and newsletter client that I find very, very easy to use, has very good and transparent pricing and has just added a bunch of open web social protocol stuff I haven't dug into (the ability to syndicate your posts to different places, basically)

This account is also me, fyi - it's a syndicated feed from my website. I turned it on as an experiment but apparently I can't actually access or remove it now. Follow it if you *definitely* don't want to miss a blog post (I'll crosspost here).
