The thing I genuinely cannot tell is if the cultural shift seemingly right ended in 2024 or if it’s just frozen while voters hate that Trump isn’t focused on the economy and would reemerge once a 2028 Dem is identified.

Interesting that a variety of magazines (Atlantic, Wired, New York, even a bunch of state/local ones) have been able to figure this out but newspapers haven’t.

yes and he came within 3% as Clinton lost Missouri by 18%. Peltola ran as pro-gun in 2024 and came within 2% as Harris lost Alaska by 13%. That overperformance with a good Dem year: she likely wins the 2026 Senate race, Iowa Senate is a toss-up race, and Dems are looking at 240+ house seats.

you've got Senate/House running in a states/districts where Trump won by 10%+ and who need to win some Trump voters. If you're got a candidate who is a gun owner and comfortable with handling guns on camera, they should do it.

2010s being pro-gun was a key way a lot of moderate dems distinguished from the rest of the party. Haven't seen a lot of dems try to get NRA endorsement/do this kind of ad: www.youtube.com/watch?v=YvR5....

They should have leaned into aggressively covering national and international politics for a premium audience. Strategic acquisitions of Punchbowl, Semafor, and/or Foreign Policy.

I’ll watch a drama if it’s a topic/concept I’m really interested in (Death by Lightning/Paradise) but there’s no way I’m gonna have the time/energy to watch Pluribus or Severance.

Every time my parents mention a new show to check out, I remind them that as a parent of a 1 year old, I have about an hour each day to watch TV and most of that time is taken up by football.

but then wouldn't the universal rule be some form of moderation has to exist to win in a swing district? Totally agree that what exactly works for Jacky Rosen might not be exactly what works for Jared Golden but that it has to exist in some form to win.

What’s the example of the Democrat in a swing/red seat who won without some degree of moderation?

My 26 guess is Dems have 22 performance with young/non-white voters and close to the best performance ever with older voters. Assuming GOP nominates Vance in 28, Dems coalition becomes older and GOP coalition becomes younger.

Feels like Torre’s pod/channel has the most potential in this world.

Sure but Scott also has been a pro-choice, pro-LGBTQ, passed gun safety legislation, and voted for Harris. There is no Democrat in the country doing that in reverse.

This feels like enough for Jon Ossoff and/or Roy Cooper to win, I doubt it’s enough to be competitive for a senate race in Iowa or Florida or Texas

sure but then what's the explanation for how Jacky Rosen was able to win in Nevada where Trump won by 3% or how Henry Cuellar wins in a district Trump won by 7% or Governor Scott wins in Vermont in 2022 as Senator Welch wins by 40%.

that's a path to maybe getting a cabinet position and/or being a top tier candidate for 32 or 36 not 28.

I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return.

TRUMP DITCHES FALLEN SOLDIERS' DIGNIFIED TRANSFER FOR GOLF DINNER

Trump won't attend the dignified transfer of 4 U.S. soldiers at Dover AFB who died in Lithuania.

He'll be at his Saudi-backed LIV Golf dinner in Florida instead. The soldiers were honored by Lithuania's president.

Sure but there’s no current way to ban scam PACs from sending cold texts. Even if ActBlue banned orgs if they send cold texts, they’d just move to a different payment processor. So it’s either endless scam PACs or at least some texts that can get people to be encouraged by Dem candidates.
