I mean, Japan themselves gave him citizenship, and he seemed to be motivated out of a genuine love and respect for the people and culture. A portion of Kottō is a translation of a lady's diary, and he said in the foreword that he refused to translate passages he thought she would be embarrassed by

losing my mind at the "she should have followed directions" people

really? really? you're cool with "if you don't follow directions, they get to kill you"? that seems like a good state of affairs to you? that seems like how law enforcement ought to work: instant obeisance or death?

Milk production at a dairy farm was low, so the farmer wrote to the local university, asking for help from academia. A multidisciplinary team of professors was assembled, headed by a theoretical physicist, and two weeks of intensive on-site investigation took place. The scholars then returned to the university, notebooks crammed with data, where the task of writing the report was left to the team leader. Shortly thereafter the physicist returned to the farm, saying to the farmer, "I have the solution, but it works only in the case of spherical cows in a vacuum."

the iced tea was made with white tea and bits of actual dried peaches, and I think she was either expecting peach kool-aid and was mad at me for giving her the peach iced tea she ordered, or, being in 2021, she had the very prevalent and communicable sickness that makes you bad at tasting things

one star review of a coffee shop, saying

"This is the second time we have graced you business, and it is probably the last. Ordered 2peach tea. The tea was so weak, you had to work at it to taste any peach. It was colored water. The guy that made the tea, said he followed the recipe, and THAT WAS peach tea. I am not a tea drinker so much. But I know peach. Then he insinuated we had covid, because according to him loss of taste is a symptom of covid. That was not necessary to insult first our tea, and say we needed to go get tested. No, now that I think about it, we will not come back, and word of mouth gets around."

I made three whole batches of tea for this woman and had both owners, two managers, and three other customers sample the tea to make sure it wasn't just "colored water." Everyone except for her and her friend said it was good, if a bit strong.
