I am once again reminded the graphite looking nanite swarm is maybe one of the dullest scifi forms. I know it's infinitely configurable but god 99% of the time it looks so utterly uninteresting.

Tractor-beam projectors specifically accumulating debris or matter just for a weapon system or deployed material to turn it into superheated slag to hurl, or imbue it with an EMP quality or corrosiveness. Slower than launchers or pulse/beam weapons, but probably a great makeshift heavy weapon

I've been toying with the idea of ship systems that have interchangable functions rather than a mere shared power source. I've seen engines that double as weapons, but aside from overload effects, rarely a shield. Weapons doubling as sensors with low-level laser pulses is also a fun one.

Could even distribute such a shield in a self-sealing projected bubble for a time, maybe with overall cohesion dependent on that state of plasma's vulnerability to another form of weapon in exchange for utilities, likely highly dense, charged particles?

I just thought of a fun visual effect for weapons

A spaceship with a plasma based shield system that builds up spheres of its own shield plasma to hurl forth at enemies via a shaped field ejection

As if it's hurling balls of crackling light that combine in sweeping waves over shield curvature

Man I feel like it'd be nice to get a little more blasted but Friday and a final battery of meetings will ensure that remains out of reach
