A small packet of wildflower seeds, featuring a cardboard tag with an intricate floral illustration
Iβm making 100 native wildflower seed packets to give out at work on Earth Day this year, and I had a great time designing the packaging today πΈ

The results of my next dye experiment using spent espresso grounds. The resulting color is a little lighter in person, but itβs still lovely. The plant is my favorite CA native grass, Danthonia californica π

Ahh itβs so beautiful!! I have been dreaming of seeing one. Do you have any suggestions of favorite tidepooling spots in NorCal? We are heading to the Half Moon Bay area in late May to check out Pillar Point :)

A small weaving of a hopkins rose nudibranch, roughly the width of a quarter. The nudibranch is pink and is woven onto a white background
A gridded design of a hopkins rose nudibranch, made for band weaving
I am going on a short tidepooling trip in May to look for Hopkinβs rose nudibranchs, so I wanted to weave myself a small patch for good luck. Wow this was challenging!! With two colors, each row becomes two rows, so this small friend took about 4 hours π¬

Pieces of beige linen with a rust colored iron mordant paste painted on in floral patterns, waiting to be dyed in coffee
The start of a wall hanging featuring olive green/grey floral designs on beige linen. The designs were dyed using an iron mordant paste and used espresso grounds
I had a great time doing a natural dye experiment today- I work at a coffee shop and have infinite access to used espresso grounds. The process we tried was painting iron mordant paste onto beige linen and then immersing them in a strong, tannic brew of the grounds. It worked out well! #naturaldye

A hand sewn crotch seam repair on a pair of yellow and black gingham pants. The stitching is color matched to the gingham
Another crotch seam repair, this one done by hand. The fabric had unraveled along the seam and created a hole, so I placed a black fabric patch underneath and reinforced with running stitches- aiming for subtlety!
