1. Dead parents
2. Is a detective
3. Is rich
4. Has at least one bat theme gadget

Do I love Robin? Yes. Do I love Alfred? Yes. And a range of other things in modern batman stories but to me these all the most fundamental things to a batman story

Even the way the cops are corrupt in most batman comics is so fundamentally different how modern cops are corrupt like they are not taken bribes from the mob anymore but yk what I love it. Comic books are some of the one media where I prefer the universes fake problems

It's strange that (some) comic book media is this way for me - in a lot of ways it's how fairy tales are for an older generation. I don't really want to see some subversive narrative, I just want to see the classics a lot of time

Ohh what about the ethics of Batman being a billionaire. I don't care. He didn't even become a billionaire till I think the 90s? But either way I don't think the ethics of Batman and his wealth is interesting like Batman is fake and I think applying real life ethics to it is so uninteresting to me

I think Batman has to be rich and that's one of the reasons why I won't read absolute batman no matter how good people say it is
