Well, got my MAiD referral today.

I'm walking down a path with 3 outcomes.
Outcome 1 and 2 are good, but it means that I went through 18 months of hell only to be vindicated at some level.

Outcome 3 is bad. There is 0 good attached to it.

I need to prepare for outcome #3.

I thought I had found a way forward that wouldn't require me to go to court. I guess that's off the table

Some areas have gotten better. Some have gotten worse.

I know the research says it runs until 2028, but I assume new submissions will be closed before March, 2027?

MAiD in Canada will not preclude your beneficiary from collecting life insurance barring any fraud.

Similarly, in Canada, suicide itself does not preclude next of kin from collecting life insurance, so long as the plan has been in place for 2 years.

My denomination's tri-annual meeting just discussed a proposal on Track 2 Medical Assistance in Dying, during which the author confessed that he knew very little about the topic, few were familiar with it, and words like "disability" and "disabled" were never used, erasing us from the discussion.

Mine has. But ONLY because I broached the topic first. And due to legislative delays, they have followed up with me routinely to see if I could use additional supports or just needed someone to talk to.

My GP is against MAiD. But they're not interfering in my decision outside of doing her job.

As for adequate mental health support? How do you support trauma that you can't remember, yet permeates through every aspect of your life? How do you address issues that have existed since the moment you were born?

This isn't a case where I'm seeking MAiD for socioeconomic reasons. While I may considered poor, my lifestyle is comfortable. While I may be considered lonely, that's a side-effect of trauma.

Those issues are contextual, not causative that, if removed, wouldn't change the eventual outcome

For the last year, I tried to ride it out. Unfortunately, some things don't rest, and the effects of trauma are one of them.

Since December I've been getting progressively worse. I fear I may, again, go into an extended period where I lack the capacity to make certain decisions. Including MAiD

In May, 2024, feeling betrayed by the government once again delaying MAiD because it wasn't politically convenient before an election, I chose to go ahead with a referral seeking MAiD secondary to Multiple Sclerosis.

Under s. 241.2(2)(b) I was denied.

Next week I meet with lawyers to remedy that
