Chthonian nightmare is such a cool card, unlike its predecessor it provides enough interaction windows to feel fair but maintains a lot of the coolness. Cycling etbs and ltbs for a measly 1B makes this a great addition to toolbox packages.

Elk I think you're getting stuck on how interesting the card is and how much cool stuff it enables to understand why people are complaining, 90% of decks running this are going to be uninteresting landfall decks where this is just everything they need in one package, making this easy to hate on.

He's one of the best control commanders I've ever seen, you can probably just win with some kind of heavy hitting sorcery in the late game, casting things like sublime epiphany twice for such a low cost seems dumb,he also affects all card cast from grave so cards with flashbacks and such are insane
