This is a lie.

There are many criticisms you might sensibly and truthfully make of the Sentencing Council and the Sentencing Guidelines. Iโ€™ve been making them for years.

But this is an outright lie. Pure fabrication. A fraud on the public.

S5 E10 - Cordelia Fine on Podcast Episode ยท The HPS Podcast - Conversations from History, Philosophy and Social Studies of Science ยท 03/10/2025 ยท 53m

I sat down with Prof. Cordelia Fine for an in-depth discussion about her wonderful new book โ€œPatriarchy, Inc.โ€

She critiques two dominant stories of inequality โ€” the โ€œdifferent but equalโ€ view and the โ€œbusiness case for diversityโ€ โ€” and sets out a richer vision of what equality should mean today.

The government want more coercive powers for the state against protests, and the main opposition party wants more coercive powers for the state against migrants.

Our political-media culture continues in a loop where the response to every perceived problem is yet more coercive powers for the state.

Nigel Farage Is a Racist

The media is refusing to state the most bleedingly obvious facts about a man whose entire career has been devoted to pursuing a racist political agenda

Nigel Farage is a racist. That is my honestly held opinion based on absolutely everything he has said and done since entering politics in the late nineties.

โ€œThe second anyone suggests that a man whose entire political career has been devoted to attacking migrants and making discriminatory comments about non-white people, might be a racist, all hell breaks looseโ€

Enough. Farage is a racist menace. We must say so.

Politicians now talk of climate โ€˜pragmatismโ€™ to delay action โ€“ new study Politicians talk about being pragmatic on climate change to avoid hard decisions.

Happy to share our new research on UK climate politics ๐Ÿšจ

We found Members of Parliament (MPs) use the language of climate "pragmatism" to avoid rapid change. It risks becoming a new discourse of delay.
