"There's no time to explain. Get in the pea."

Exactly. State of Israel ≠ People of Israel ≠ Land of Israel/Palestine

Marsalis: "[democracy] is related to jazz... you have to balance your freedom to improvise with restraint that comes with swingin' and recognizing other people. Democracy dies when you do not understand the need... to create wealth for everybody and to see in your neighbor not an enemy but a friend"

He is a gift to the world. I'm sad to hear he's stepping down from leading at Lincoln Center, but also so grateful for the legacy he's built and continues to build. He's only 64 and could have stayed on longer, but that's the lesson he's trying to teach - to give others a chance to play 🎶

Walter Isaacson: "I've watched you play with your orchestra... and you lead, but you lead from behind. You always stand behind the orchestra."

Wynton Marsalis: "Yeah, that's democratic leadership.... to negotiate the song so that we all make sure everyone plays."

The total population of Kansas is around 3 million people. The number of trans people they sent letters to invalidating their IDs is around 1,500.

They went through all the effort of passing this bill just to make the lives of 0.05% of their population materially worse and more dangerous.

Probably ever frankly.

This is what I'm most worried about. Are we going to see a wave of legislation like this carried out in the last few weeks leading up to the midterm elections?

26.02.2026 22:38 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 0    📌 0

So let's see... Kansas enacts a law which suddenly strips every trans person of ID, who now can't legally drive to the DMV without risking a 6-month prison sentence?

Is this the plan for the midterms nationwide?

Fuck everyone who said Republicans weren't coming for our basic rights. This is evil.

Meanwhile, I got fired from one of my jobs last summer for asking why they weren't considering me for a position I was uniquely qualified for. Instead, they hired multiple other people for this role, one with next to no experience who was fresh out of college, and then told me it was about the money

It makes you wonder if local law enforcement in Kansas is working with companies like Palantir for exactly this purpose.

As I was reading this I was just gonna say, this is exactly what they're doing with HRT right now.

Thank you for sharing this. "The actionable advice here is straightforward: people with political influence and platforms need to work to make the threat to democracy more legible to more people, and channel citizen energy toward the kind of blocking strategies Gamboa’s research suggests work best."

What I ended up doing is just adding links to the top of the page which people have to click to get to the specific parts of the page that details each course. But it's really not an elegant solution, and it frustrates me I can't just give people a link externally to those parts of the page.

Case in point, today I was trying to link to a specific part of a webpage to promote an online course. Well, for some reason Cargo doesn't allow this. (Why aren't we using Wordpress?) Stacking the pages doesn't work either like Cargo recommends.

How long did I spend troubleshooting this? Two hours.

As someone with very limited web development experience who often ends up helping out with websites for small/community orgs, getting the website to do what you want it to do often feels like getting sucked into a black hole.
