I've just been on BBc Radio's 'Inside Science', talking about the strange, disturbing and occasionally hilarious world of nuclear semiotics. These places have to last between 10,000 years and one million years. Civilisational collapse is possible. So... show or hide?

In Scotland, Starmer/Morgan/Reeves/Mamoud are doing Reform's work for them. The SNP shouldn't be in such a secure position (it's not morally good for them either) but that's where we are.

is this what passes for good news?
Increasing house scarcity, precariousness for renters, people hoarding property now even more remunerative than work?

Devastatingly sad.
Every Labour MP should be forced to read this. In fact, every MP, who rushed back to Parliament to vote to save one steel mill, whilst hastening the collapse of dozens of universities - and harming the students, staff, communities and economies universities sustain and support

(2) Who is that fey young man in red, looking like Venus arising from the waves? It's my much younger self, inside the vehicle compound at the Stop Torness demonstration, as seen in Robin Crichton's film (1980, I think). I had never noticed myself in the footage until this week.

On the negative side: the Bunker Down project for 7th february has been cancelled.
On the plus side:
(1) a streamlined sharper 43 minute version of "Yellowcake: a fission romance" is now ready for whatever public may want to discover the short and the long lives of uranium.
