Yesterday, a federal judge ordered ICE to stop warrantless arrests in Oregon, rejecting ICE’s dangerous and unlawful “arrest first, justify later” practice and confirming what we’ve always known: due process matters.

Oregon is strongest when we stand together and take action. We’re grateful to the Governor, the First Lady, and state leaders for taking this important step, and we look forward to working together to ensure all Oregonians are safe and supported.

This morning, @tinakotek.bsky.social issued an Executive Order to respond to the growing harm immigrant communities are facing across our state. This action comes after members of our coalition met with the Governor’s Office last Saturday to share what our communities need.

@oregonian.com reported that U.S. District Judge Michael McShane found that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) yet again operates outside the law. It issued a warrant for the arrest of a Beaverton man after they realized they detained the wrong man. This secret police should worry all of us.
