What if life was just some hard equation, on chalkboard in a science class for ghosts; and you can live again but you have to die twice in the end.

Sup chat this is Slouching Towards Bethlehem with your boy The Rough Beast, and it looks like today’s stream could be a big one, as some of you might’ve already seen there are rumors going around social media that the hour has come round at last, so we’re gonna get right into it

We are At War now, according to President Bush, and I take him at his word. He also says this War might last for "a very long time."
Generals and military scholars will tell you that eight or 10 years is actually not such a long time in the span of human history - which is no doubt true - but history also tells us that 10 years of martial law and a wartime economy are going to feel like a Lifetime to people who are in their twenties today. The poor bastards of what will forever be known as Generation Z are doomed to be the first generation of Americans who will grow up with a lower standard of living than their parents enjoyed.
That is extremely heavy news, and it will take a while for it to sink in. The 22 babies born in New York City while the World Trade Center burned will never know what they missed. The last half of the 20th century will seem like a wild party for rich kids, compared to what's coming now. The party's over, folks.

Think about how no one under 30 knows what pensions are, it's a totally alien concept. The GOP goal is to make all government services as alien and unfamiliar.

Imagine in a decade, trying to explain to a 20 year old what social security, libraries, grad school, the EPA, OSHA, mass vaccination, ADA,

seeing firefighters oppose safe, international best practice building codes purely out of misplaced inertia and resistance to change has made me appreciate that many urban issues have unexpected villains and you should be skeptical of anyone trying to blame it all on private equity or whatever

The thing about this new "anti-marijuana" wave of reporting that I guess everyone in the group chat has settled on is that it always comes back to the question of "SHOULD we ban pot?" And never "are we massively underfunding psychological health resources?"

Computers have automated away millions and millions of jobs already by the way. It neither caused mass unemployment because there is always more to do, nor improved our lives much because all the money went to the ownership class.

Trump Tower got a huge tax cut it didn’t deserve. Everyone in Cook County is paying for it.

Now, the tax attorneys who made it happen are bankrolling my opponent. He thinks big commercial properties are paying too much β€” I think they’re not paying enough.

Wiseman’s CENTRAL PARK is one of the greatest New York movies, an elegant tapestry of the people who make the city what it is, from every walk of life. And one of its greatest archives of queer culture in the β€˜80s.

It's not even that: It's that they don't CARE whether or not there is a future beyond their lives. They know there won't be, for the record, but they wouldn't care even if they didn't.

Americans think everyone is corrupt

Voters have weird views about this, and progressive advocacy groups do a lot that's counterproductive.

So will the party pay a price for Trump's corruption? They're set to lose the House, which almost always happens to the president's party during a midterm, but remain the odds-on favorites (1) to hold the Senate, in which case Trump will be able to keep MAGAfying the judiciary and getting away with corrupt schemes.

The one thing that Donald Trump and Zohran Mamdani share is that they both understand that politics is a 24/7/365 persuasion game. This is simply not how the rest of the Democratic Party operates.
