My mom said a polite “no thank you” to #latchhook pillows, so I offered one to my aunts. Debby looks pleased! Did she actually put it in her house? I’ll never ask! Let’s assume yes!

I am living in the present SO HARD because the future is scary. The present is pretty good, though - today it includes brownies!

I thought this pattern could also be a gift, but I was not expecting such a… bold? unsettling? drastic? shade of orange.

So what would MY returning project be? I found a site aptly named “Latch Hook Crafts” and settled on making a gift for someone who wouldn’t expect one - the lady who befriended my mom when she moved to Petaluma. A die-hard Baltimore Ravens fan.

You may be wondering - are the kids any good at latch hook?

Kind of?

Two girls were very into it and asked to take the kits home over break. In the time-honored tradition of break-time optional projects, one didn’t do much and the other keeps forgetting to bring it back. 😆

I had to watch a YouTube video to refresh my memory, then demonstrated how to use the latch hook to a small group of 4th graders. They were mildly interested, and I was tempted to finish the kit myself. I decided I should just get my own. And unleash the finished ones as gifts!

Years pass and I don’t attempt any sort of fiber arts. And then one of the afterschool teachers has kids meeting for a knitting club in the library afterschool. I started to wonder what I could add to our activity cabinet to expand on this - easy to learn, not many supplies, shareable… #latchhook!
