I started playing mtg when it first came out. I stopped back in like 1999. I considered getting back into it one point. The 'now we use all the IPs' instead of just expanding the world they established years ago was a big factor in discouraging me.

What's weird about this is that new releases are about the only thing easy to get at most of the public libraries I interact with. Finding anything 'old' (say fiction from more than about 12-15 years ago) gets pretty sketchy unless its had a new print run complete with new cover design.
