I would argue any true martini is garbage and abuse, but that's matter of personal taste.

We stopped trying to make a red state work when we had snipers nests and armed traffic obstruction by q anon crazies supported by local and state police across the street from an elementary school two blocks from us.
Things weren't easy, and aren't perfect, but at least mildly safer.

As a former special Ed teacher and current school counselor, I am not remotely surprised. I've fought it in the limited ways I can, but my voice as an educator doesn't carry much weight at the district and state levels.

Squirrels, chipmunks, & prairie dogs, in the wild, will eat out of your hand maybe after yelling at you for food maybe even sit in your lap while they do it. But not domesticated. Not even sure if they can meet the technical definition.
