30 years ago Chuck Palahniuk’s Fight Club accurately predicted that men under late capitalism, empty consumers who had come to think of themselves as β€œthe middle children of history” with no great wars to fight, would eventually prank and shitpost their way into fascism.

who could ever have predicted this from the guy who insulted soldiers at their funerals and winged paper towel rolls at hurricane victims

man they should be allowed to grow up the proper way, putting this on Blogspots or Livejournals that get 2 comments a day

And for those of us posting online about books and art, I mean, that's human. It's human to continue to defy the darkness to the very end.

The band on the Titanic literally played until it sank. You can't stop the human spirit from wanting to experience joy, no matter the conditions.

What if there was a mindful way to steal people’s art, pollute Black neighborhoods, and raise everyone’s electric bill?

awwww! I am happy for you and your new baby. It just sucks. I'm really lucky this time around bc I think I can bring home whatever the hell I want and Amelia will be like, "hi friend!"

Amelia is a pretty rare bird... she came from a foster with absolutely tons of cats. Not once in 5 years has she hissed at another cat. She wanted to befriend Teegs the first day she saw him, but naturally he did not feel the same way about her lol

I tend not to wait till I'm "ready" for a new cat. We are always a 2 cat household and Amelia is both very social & very bummed right now. I want to get her a buddy ASAP.

I have applied for a pretty silver stripe tabby, a color pattern I have never had. I am a big fan of gray cats... I've had 3 but they were all dilute torties. If she has already been adopted, there are several alternates I liked the look of at the same shelter. Hoping to go this weekend.

It's tough browsing local shelters bc there are so many orange cats. I'm not sure if I'll ever want another one, tbh. Teegs was just the quintessential Orange Boi.

so many pics in my phone the last 2 years of my eyes looking over this cat's butt while he rakes a hole in my shoulder haha

10 lb orange scarf... so annoying but now I'm so glad I spoiled him and let him do it 😍

Uh no...we definitely realize it.

This continues for TEN PARAGRAPHS, pulling garbled info from my bio and awkwardly mashing it up with the book blurb. Hilariously, the "editor" has no last name in their sig. It's just... Suzzie.

Dying to know: does everyone else get Suzzie, or are there like 10 stupid names they cycle between? πŸ˜‚

My name is Suzzie, and I am a Senior Editor at Scholastic Publishing. I do not reach out to authors without a compelling reason and Song of the Current gave me one that connects directly to everything your particular combination of writing and philosophy has prepared you to build.

These AI written scam emails to authors are so ridiculous. Yes, I'm sure *checks notes* Suzzie is a senior editor at Scholastic who is inquiring about a book that came out from another publisher 8 years ago, bc that's totally the way this works.

A distant selfie of me standing in nearly waist deep water of the middle of the Rio Grande River, with massive canyon walls on either side and clear blue sky overhead. This is Santa Elana Canyon, where the proposed border wall would begin. That would be a travesty. Besides, these canyon walls are their own, natural border wall.

I've been to all 254 TX counties, and Big Bend is the very best of Texas. The stunning, expansive desert landscape still feels untouched. It deserves to stay that way. It breaks my heart thinking about it being needlessly ruined for a f***ing wall. Here's some photos I've taken there. 🧡4/4
