With regards to the proposed age verification laws in the US, It must be understood that our lawmakers are operating several steps ahead of us. They have already mapped out the iterative process by which this will be imposed upon us, whether we want it or not. It must be stopped. Not another inch.

@celgen.org Can the Apricot Xi be made to boot directly from the Winchester, or does it always need to be chained from a boot floppy? (I've been futzing with msd, winformat, etc.)

To my British #ApricotPC friends Does anyone remember if you could boot off the Winchester on an Apricot PCxi? I can write system to the disk, but it refuses to boot from it.

Reality really is like a bad WWE wrestling match, all the time now.

I still think "Trebuchet" is a missed branding opportunity for a postal service.

...it's 1983 in Japan, an industrial designer has to design a radio, a CD player, a boom box, and an MSX computer by the end of the day...

heat conduction is a massive problem outside of our atmosphere, and this is going to be solved like every other problem that has to be solved by next quarter: badly, and with as little money and effort as humanly possible.

Writing my Compute! Articles on my ATARI, thanks to FujiNet!
YouTube video by tschak909 Writing my Compute! Articles on my ATARI, thanks to FujiNet!

I've been writing my articles for @computesgazette using my #ATARI8bit and my PC, using FujiNet to smoothly bridge my workflow, getting distraction free writing, and capability when I need it.

Writing March 2026 @Computesgazette for the FujiNet report. This one covers the Battleship game server.

moved from #Atari8bit AtariWriter to SpeedScript (was published in Compute! in 1985) as it's smaller and faster.

#FujiNet made moving across network easy!

Right now, I think the most effective form of protest in the USA is to gather data, and keep sending it to our elected representatives, on everything from water pollution to the effects of low frequency sound pollution from our largest data centers, and keep doing it. tenaciously

Yup. CR78. Know that very well. I had to fashion a programming controller for one (you program it in a very peculiar serial fashion). Also available in a non programmable model. The CR68. :)

The ruling class figured out that if you make it so that people are too tired, distracted, or indifferent to reading books, you don't have to burn them.

Meanwhile a batch of government grade 5.25" floppies came in. Always nice to get these. Solid media, nice big labels, all standardized.

"monkeybutton" word with polymorphic context. Meaning: When you or an AI become sufficiently frustrated and stuck in a given state so as to just start randomly pushing all the buttons to produce any sort of result.

My copy of the #atari2600 Stella Programmer's guide that I printed in 1998, on very heavy paper, so even though I have used the hell out of it, it still looks like a million bucks. #gamedev #retrogaming

Leaded Solder vs. The Crazy 77 Things don’t always go to plan! When battling one of the most complex 8-bit home computers ever made, you can expect to run into some problems.

New blog post! Fujitsu made a wildly complicated machine in the FM-77AV2, and this one defeated me. I did narrow the problem to a bad custom chip! Come along and see the heaviest 8-bit computer I owned before I got even heavier ones. www.leadedsolder.com/2026/02/10/f...

Long-term WTB: GRiD Compass II 1129 or 1139.

Am trying to get one to demonstrate its unique user and development environment, as emulation is still very broken.
