Peyton’s 24th birthday is in the books! We had dinner at Venezia, played a game of Peyton’s own design where she hid 24 pieces of paper featuring 24 titles of A24 films for us to find and watched a birthday movie (she chose The Princess Bride). Blessed to have such an amazing daughter. A great day!

Look, if you want to see obscure Japanese movies you have to do whatever it takes. In this case it takes going downtown on a Tuesday night at 10 PM. Kiyoshi Kurosawa‘s 1997 film “Cure” is one of the best movies I’ve ever seen and this is the only time his new opus “Cloud” is playing, so…here we are!

How is the light at Tulane and Broad out AGAIN?!?!?!? You know who’s getting my vote for mayor? WHOEVER FIXES THIS F*CKING LIGHT. Oh, wait. I don’t live in Orleans Parish anymore. Whatever, I’m still PISSED.

Oh yeah, I went there all the time when I was living in Algiers for a few months. Metairie and Elmwood are just closer.

It’s Peyton’s last weekend in town before heading back to college so we have to get as many movies in as possible before then. We saw Bad Guys 2 last night and tonight is Weapons! Can’t think of a bigger shift in genres from one night to the next.😂

Happy Gotcha Day to Louie Larose! He was such an absolute turd my mom gave him back. Then she cried and took him back again. He continued to be an unholy terror until she passed. Then he became MY holy terror. At some point, though, we figured it out and he’s my main man now. Funny how that goes.

More than half the songs my first band in high school played were Ozzy songs. Rest easy, sir.

Scandinavia is just better than…everywhere from my travels there.

Finally home after five days on the road and got the most “New Orleans” welcome imaginable.

The “Dash Takes Texas Tour ‘25” is in the books! So great to get out of town for a few days and rock out with the Rip Rock boys again. Getting to play all those songs I played for 20 years was an absolute joy. I also got to see a ton of old friends, which was so much fun. 10/10 would recommend.

Haven’t been to San Antonio in…15 years? Nice to be back!
