HVCC and UAlbany grad Omar Yaghi wins Nobel Prize in chemistry Omar Yaghi, a scientist who started his college education at Hudson Valley Community College and earned his Bachelor of Science at the University at Albany, has won the Nobel Prize in chemistry.

Yaghi is recognized as a founder of reticular chemistry, a field that builds crystalline materials at the atomic level. His story is a powerful reminder that hard work and opportunity can take you anywhere, even to the Nobel stage.
